Ingredients
-
3/4 cup of Cacao powder
-
3/4 cup of coconut oil
-
** Note, how much you wish to make may vary, so remember, you always just keep the volume of Cacao powder and coconut oil the same! Then adjust sweet and salt additions to your taste**
-
1 teaspoon maple syrup (or to taste)
-
sprinkle of salt
-
add nuts or spices if desired
-
we used a few soaked and dried almonds
Topping ideas we've used in the past for this bark include: Toasted Coconut flakes, chopped pecans, pistachios, dried cherries, a mix of the above, or even just leaving it plain!
Method
-
Melt and blend the coconut oil and cacao powder over a low to medium heat in a saucepan
-
Add a dash of salt
-
Add maple syrup to taste (as time has gone on we use less and less)
-
Mix well
-
Once mixture is smooth pour into a baking tray, the amounts in this recipe fitted nicely into a 25cm x 15cm tray
-
Add any toppings you desire
-
Place in freezer to set (not fridge or the maple syrup will separate out)
-
When set, break into pieces and enjoy :)

Remember this chocolate does melt easily - if you wish you can also pour into chocolate moulds, I've even put them into tiny paper patty pans to take to dinner parties, popping a dried cherry or pistachio in each one - they proved really popular!!
